Scattered leftovers of a medieval town mix with the vastness of socialist and the aggressive modernism of capitalist architecture. Having been a great city in the Middle Ages, Magdeburg again tries to find its proper place after many people left for better paid jobs after the German reunion. The University attracts young people who enrich the cultural life and huge abandoned factory areas offer space for creative projects, clubs and bars. We don't really have a city center, but the bars around Hasselbach square is where you easily run into your friends. In the summer time we flock to the green surroundings of the river Elbe invite for sports and barbeque. Trust us, after a bit of exploration you'll find out what makes Magdeburg special.
